The team that has created and is developing SwarmCity belongs to the Robotics and Cybernetics Research Group (RobCib) of the Centre for Automation and Robotics (CAR), which is formed by Technical University of Madrid (UPM) and Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

Antonio Barrientos Cruz (Professor)
He is the head of the Robotics and Cybernetics Research Group (RobCib) of the Centre for Automation and Robotics (CAR, UPM-CSIC). He received the MSc Engineer degree in Automation and Electronics from the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) in 1982, and the PhD in Robotics from the same University in 1986. In 2002 he obtained the MSc Degree in Biomedical Engineering by National Distance Education University (UNED). Since 1988 he is Professor on robotics, computers and control engineering at the Technical University of Madrid. He has worked in robotics for more than 30 years, developing industrial and service robots for different areas.

Juan Jesús Roldán Gómez (PostDoc researcher)
He is a PostDoc researcher at the Centre for Automation and Robotics. He received the PhD in Automation and Robotics (2018) from the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). He also studied Bsc+MSc. in Industrial Engineering with specialization in Automation and Electronics (2012) and MSc. in Automation and Robotics (2014) at the same university. During the last five years, he has researched about security systems for aerial robots, surveillance with teams of ground robots and application of robots to agriculture. Currently, he is interested in multi-robot adaptive and immersive interfaces and robot swarms for monitoring cities, as well as in data mining and machine learning techniques.
Pablo García Auñón (PhD candidate)
He was born in Barcelona in 1985 and studied Aeronautical Engineering, aircraft specialization, at the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). After some years working in the aeronautical industry, he obtained a Msc. in System Engineering and Control at the UNED/UCM. He is currently PhD candidate at the Centre for Automation and Robotics, focused on aerial swarms in search and surveillance missions. Besides, he has investigated other topics regarding UAVs, such as low level control, simulation and path-following algorithms.
Elena Peña Tapia (MSc student)
She is a graduate of Industrial Technology Engineering at the Technical University of Madrid, with a specialty in Automation and Electronics. Fascinated by science from an early age, she has been a visiting student at UPenn and Stanford, where she grew an interest in the latest technologies. She is currently coordinating her studies (Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering) with research at the CAR (Center of Automation and Robotics). Her fi elds of interest include VR, user Interfaces and AI.
